BREAKING: Oswego School District 308 releases Phase 2 of hybrid learning plan

Oswego School District 308

The second phase of Oswego School District 308′s hybrid learning program will begin Feb. 16.

The plan, approved by the Board of Education in a split vote at its Jan. 11 meeting, was released to parents and students Jan. 27.

Phase 2 of the district’s plan is set to end March 26, the Friday before the district’s spring break.

Parents will have the chance to switch their student between hybrid in-person learning and remote by choice, but a student’s choice will only need to be recorded by the district if the student is changing from their current learning environment.

A form to change learning environments will be available in the district’s Tyler system for parents to complete. New choices must be communicated to the district by 10 a.m., Feb. 1.

According to the plan, elementary school students in the hybrid program will attend school in-person for four mornings a week for instruction in reading, math and writing. In the afternoon, students will receive digital instruction in art, music, physical education, and will be able to have independent work time.

Students will not eat while at school.

On Wednesday afternoons, instruction in reading, math and writing will include a student’s entire class - remote by choice students and in-person students. Small group online instruction will also be scheduled for students in need of support.

Elementary classes will not be divided into A/B attendance groups, rather all in-person students will attend together.

The plan also notes that social distancing will be practiced as much as possible, but students may not always be six feet apart.
