The former director of public works for the city of Plano has been arrested and charged with theft.
Plano police issued a statement June 25 confirming the arrest of Nathan Bullard, 38, currently a resident of Anna, Illinois on a charge of theft of state-supported property following an investigation into the disappearance of several tools purchased for the city’s public works department.
According to the police statement, their investigation began in May, when they were informed of the theft of “numerous” tools purchased for the city’s public works department.
“After a thorough investigation into this matter it was learned that over the course of time that (Bullard) worked for the City of Plano as director of public works, he purchased numerous tools under the auspice the tools were to be utilized for the use by the City of Plano,” the statement reads.
The tools were reported missing in May, when Bullard tendered his resignation to the city. The tools have since been recovered.
A warrant was issued for Bullard’s arrest, and he has been taken into custody. Bullard is scheduled to appear in Kendall County Court.
