High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Sept. 7: Vincent Herbig hat trick paces Plano soccer past Sandwich

BOYS SOCCER

Plano 7, Sandwich 1

Vincent Herbig recorded a hat trick with three goals, Antonio Silva added the first two goals of his career and Sergio Correa had two assists for the Reapers (2-5-1, 1-2). Santiago Cervantes and Chris Keleba also scored for Plano. For Sandwich, freshman Kayden Page notched the first goal of his high school career.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Newark d. Seneca 25-10, 25-23

Lindsey Hatteberg had seven kills and three aces and Kelly Snyder added five kills for the Norsemen. Aubrey Benesh had 16 digs and Lauren Ulrich 17 assists for Newark (8-1, 2-0 Little Ten Conference).

Sycamore 173, Sterling 182, Sandwich 194

Michael Barbey shot a 46 to pace Sandwich’s golfers at Sycamore Golf Course. Kadin Kern carded a 48 and Noah Campbell and Sam Dawson each posted scores of 50.

GIRLS GOLF

Plano 242, Sycamore

Medalist Faith Malloy shot a 45, Kendal Flodstrom a 55 and KC Polomchak a 62 for the Reapers at Cedardell.
