Freshman Sam Phillip, the first Oswego co-op gymnast to compete in any of the individual event finals in 19 years, took 10th place in the vault at Saturday's IHSA state meet in Palatine.
Oswego co-op senior Kelsie Freundt took third on floor with a 9.15 and fourth on beam with a 9.1 to qualify for the state competition, and teammate Sam Phillip took second on vault and second on floor to join her at state.
The Oswego co-op gymnastics team scored 138.75 points to take the regional title at the Lyons Township regional Tuesday, the program's fourth straight regional title. Now Oswego has its sights set on qualifying its team for state for the first time since 2002.
