Yorkville Christian senior Danielle Bulson, who scored 17 points in Yorkville Christian’s 48-41 regional final win over Serena to clinch the first regional championship in program history, is the Record Newspapers Athlete of the Week in an online vote.

St. Edward took the lead 10 seconds in and led the rest of the way in a 46-20 victory over Yorkville Christian in a Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Sectional semifinal Tuesday.

Sophomore Sydney Dodd scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the first half and also grabbed nine rebounds with six steals, and Bolingbrook broke open its game with Yorkville in the second quarter and went on to a 58-34 win in the Class 4A Metea Valley Regional final.

Danielle Bulson scored 17 points and Payton Wallin 16, and Yorkville Christian beat Serena 48-41 in the Class 1A Indian Creek Regional final for the first regional championship in the history of the program.

Sterling used a dominant overall team performance to win its first regional title since 2019 on Thursday night, defeating Plano 70-38. 'We can make it far if we work as a team.'
