Boys Track | Kendall County Now

St. Charles North scored 41 of its 97 points across three distance races as the North Stars won the team title at the 53rd annual Peterson Prep Invitational. Host Kaneland took a slim second over Yorkville to round out the podium.

Yorkville senior Owen Horeni, who took third place in the 800-meter run at the prestigious Arcadia Invitational in California in 1:50.25, breaking his own school record, is the Record Newspapers Athlete of the Week in an online vote. Here is his Q&A with Sports Editor Josh Welge.

As boys track and field season heads outdoors, here are previews of teams from around the Record Newspapers coverage area.

Oswego sophomore Dontrell Young, who medaled in the 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes at the Class 3A state track meet, is the Record Newspapers boys track and field Athlete of the Year.

Plano senior Tristan Meszaros, who took fourth in the Class 2A 100-meter dash after running a time of 10.63 seconds, and followed it up finishing the Class 2A 200 in 22.13 for seventh, is the Record Newspapers Athlete of the Week in an online vote. Here is his Q&A.

Oswego sophomore Dontrell Young, after missing all of indoor season recovering from a torn meniscus, swept the 100, 200 and 400 titles at the Class 3A East Aurora Sectional, while Oswego East won its first team sectional title and NIU football recruit Zach Morrisroe swept throws.
