Ryan Paradise, a Northern Illinois graduate who played basketball there and was Marmion basketball coach before running his Basketball Paradise program in the Fox Valley area, has been hired as Yorkville Christian’s athletic director.

Brian Johnson, who previously coached for eight seasons at West Aurora and for six at Kaneland, has been hired as the next boys basketball coach at Oswego East.
Yorkville Christian senior guard Jayden Riley was named to the Illinois Media Class 2A All-State First Team in voting released on Sunday. Oswego East senior Mason Lockett earned Honorable Mention in Class 4A.
Aaron Sovern, who has been at Yorkville Christian for 13 years, started the boys basketball program there in the 2014-2015 school year and coached the Mustangs to the 2022 Class 1A state championship, is stepping down as coach and athletic director to move to Arizona.
Yorkville Christian senior guard and SIU-Edwardsville commit Jayden Riley, who became the second player in program history to score 2,000 career points and led the Mustangs to 23 wins, regional title and sectional final, is the Record Newspapers Player of the Year.

Neuqua Valley star sophomore scored 20 of his 36 points in the second half as the Wildcats pulled away from an eight-point halftime lead to beat Oswego East 80-51 in the Class 4A Neuqua Valley Regional final, the Wildcats avenging their only loss of the season.
