Oswego Kiwanis Club announces 2021 scholarship recipients

The Oswego Kiwanis Club has announced Teegan Mathey and Megan Summitt are the club’s 2021 college scholarship winners. Both students are members of the Kiwanis Key Club at Oswego East High School.

According to the Kiwanis Club, it awards scholarships to Key Club members through a competitive application process. Key Club is a student-led service organization whose goal is to develop leadership through service to others. Mathey and Summitt personify this goal.

“I was immersed into an environment full of like-minded students who were all passionate about creating positive change,” Mathey said. Her sentiment was echoed by Summitt, who said, “Throughout the years, we have been able to participate in several service opportunities as well as work with many different organizations in our community.”

Mathey said Key Club brought her leadership skills “to a new level” showing her and the entire club that “we can all play a part in easing others’ burdens.”

Mathey and Summitt will both attend the University of Alabama in the fall.

The club wishes them all the best in their future endeavors and know they will bring their Key Club experiences to all that they do.
