Kaneland School District approves school calendar for 2021-22 school year

Kaneland Harter Middle School in Sugar Grove.

MAPLE PARK – The Kaneland School District Board of Education formally approved a calendar for the 2021-22 school year at its meeting Jan. 25.

The first day of school for Kaneland students will be Aug. 11. The last day of school is scheduled to be May 18, 2022, unless snow days are used. With the exception of Aug. 9-13 and Nov. 1-5, there are no other weeks scheduled for three days of instruction.

The fall semester will end before winter break, which begins Dec. 20.

“This is a calendar recommended right now on what we know and what we hope the fall to be,” Superintendent Todd Leden said. “But please know – as we’ve seen all school year – we’ve adapted and changed as the circumstances have warranted. And we will also do that, too.”

The full calendar can be viewed here.

Kaneland High School Athletic Director Dave Rohlman offered a possible preview of what the revised sports calendar could look like for high school sports ahead of a critical meeting of the IHSA board of directors that was scheduled for Jan. 27.

“What that [revised schedule] looks like is anybody’s guess,” Rohlman said. “But [athletic directors are] hearing six- to eight0week seasons for the remaining fall and winter sports, so that the spring sports who lost their whole seasons last year would get a full or near-full season.”
