The popular All Night Flea Market will make a splashy return Aug. 21, including an appearance by Captain Marvel (Jackson Bostwick) from the 1970s “Shazam” television show. Hours will be 3 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton.
Bostwick will be on hand, along with his character’s 1974 Chrysler Imperial, dubbed The Big Red Cheese, a monument to the golden age of comics, a press release stated. (Read our 2019 interview with Bostwick about his St. Charles appearance at Pheasant Run at tinyurl.com/3fk5y7k3.)

Also featured will be Rick Goldschmidt, official biographer for Rankin/Bass productions (“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”); John Borowski, an award-winning independent filmmaker and author; Rebecca Whitaker, pin-up and pop culture artist; and Charles Moisant, an iconic writer and artist of zombies and haunted houses. Rounding out the guests will be the legendary Philo Barnhart, an animator whose work includes “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Rescuers” and other titles. And cosplay characters will be on hand for everyone’s fun and enjoyment.
Thousands of treasures from vendors in six states will include antiques, folk art, advertising, collectibles, housewares, country furniture, bargains and many other items.
“It’s a Flea’s Night Out,” Bob Zurko, promoter of the lively flea market event, stated in the release.
Tour buses and tailgaters are always welcome. People should bring a flashlight and plan to stay until the wee hours of the morning, he said.
Listed as one of America’s top-ten flea market events by the Travel Channel, National Geographic, the Antique Trader and others, the eclectic attraction draws dealers and buyers from all over the Midwest.
