How You Can Impact the Lives of Children in Need this Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of generosity and goodwill fills the air. It’s a time for giving, and there are various meaningful ways to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Youth Service Bureau of Illinois Valley has several upcoming opportunities to impact the lives of children, youth, and families.

Do you love to play Santa? Star Tree, our holiday gift giving program, matches donors up with children we serve. You’ll be partnered (anonymously) with a child and be given their sizes and a wish list to guide your shopping. This act of kindness helps provide a joyful Christmas experience for children in the care of YSB. Email betho@ysbiv.org or call 815-431-3023 to sponsor a child.

Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving), is a global movement dedicated to charitable giving. Youth Service Bureau will launch a campaign for this event for the first time this year.

Our focus will be on supporting our Compassion in Action Fund. This money is available to case workers to meet the needs of children and youth that fall outside of our state-funded services. The fund meets the urgent needs of our clients in crisis, subsidizes counseling for those who need it, and provides for some much needed ‘extras’ for the kids in our care. Our annual appeal will be coming soon as well. It’s a reminder that support is needed year-round, not just during the holiday season. This campaign helps support our vital work in this community and across twenty counties in Northern Illinois. Your contributions, no matter the amount, make a significant difference and help our wide variety of programs nurture children and families in important ways.
