First Congregational Church of Peru hosts Thanksgiving service

A large pumpkin thrives in the patch planted by Glenn Anderson, 95, a retired Kempton-area farmer, near his current residence at Riverside's Westwood Oaks Independent Living in Kankakee. Anderson grows the gourds for auction every three years to benefit the senior living community's garden club. — The First Congregational Church of Peru will host its annual “Harvest Home” Thanksgiving service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26. The First Congregational Church of Peru will host its annual “Harvest Home” Thanksgiving service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26.

The service features the message “Giving Thanks in All Circumstances.” The Thanksgiving service will also offer prayer and reflection time. The service will be led by Pastor Mark Harder.

The First Congregational Church is located at 1431 Fourth St. in Peru.
