Evergreen Place Supportive Living in Streator held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate the completion of its new kitchen.

The ceremony was attended by Evergreen staff, members of the Streator Chamber of Commerce, representatives from OSF Healthcare and Streator Mayor Tara Bedei.

Evergreen Place Director Kristie Finney said the updated kitchen will offer a wider variety of food choices and improved quality for residents.

“Our residents will now have the opportunity to enjoy different kinds of food and just have more input on meal planning based on their preferences,” Finney said.

She noted that this project had been in the works since summer 2023, with plans finalized and construction beginning in September 2024.

“The residents have been waiting for this for a while, and they deserve it,” Finney said.
