Batavia junior linebacker Tyler Jansey announces verbal commitment to Wisconsin

Batavia sophomore Tyler Jansey and the Bulldogs are set to play Geneva this Friday at NIU's Huskie Stadium. Jansey's older brother Michael played on the NIU field in 2017 when Batavia won the Class 7A state championship.

Batavia junior linebacker Tyler Jansey announced his verbal commitment to Wisconsin via Twitter on Friday.

Jansey is a three-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to Rivals.com, and is believed to be the first verbal commitment to Wisconsin’s recruiting class for that year. Jansey is ranked 12th among Illinois players in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports.

Jansey chose Wisconsin from seven reported offers, primarily from the Mid-American Conference, including Toledo, Western Michigan and Miami-Ohio. Jansey announced the Wisconsin offer on June 24.

The 6-foot-1, 224-pound linebacker led a loaded Batavia defense with 88 tackles, 16 for loss, in helping lead the Bulldogs to an undefeated regular season and the second round of the playoffs.

Jansey’s older brother, Michael, is a sophomore linebacker at Northwestern.
