Maureen Lorraine “Mo” Cotugno, 78, of Manteno, passed away Wednesday (March 27, 2019) at her home.
She was born May 11, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William A. and Lorraine C. Sweeney Kelly.
Maureen married Joseph Cotugno on June 30, 1962, at St. Catherine of Genoa in Roseland.
She graduated from Little Company of Mary as a registered nurse in 1960. Later in her life, she went to work as a Christian counselor for Dr. Antonio Yaniz’s practice, Associated Psychiatrists.
Maureen loved to be with family. She really enjoyed drawing, painting and creating floral arrangements. She was a strong Right to Life advocate.
Mo loved her church association with both St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kankakee, and then in her later years, she enjoyed being a part of St. George Catholic Church in St. George.
Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Joseph Cotugno, of Manteno; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Laura and Mike Thompson, of Bradley, and Gina and Dan Reid, of Bradley; one sister, Eileen Crepeau, of Elmhurst; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill Kelly, of Boston, Mass., Larry and Kathy Kelly, of Schaumburg, and Dr. James Kelly M.D. and Dr. Anna Kelly M.D., of Centennial, Colo.; two grandchildren, Christina and Paul Schriner, of Chicago, and Tony Cotugno, of Bradley; and one great-grandchild, Ava Lorraine Schriner, of Chicago.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and one sister, Kathy Jewel.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, until the noon funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church in St. George, with the Rev. Dan Belanger celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in St. George Catholic Cemetery in St. George. A reception will follow at St. George Parish Hall.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes.
