The estimated 17 million viewers who tuned in to NBC's "Chicago PD" Wednesday night witnessed the TV debut of 20-year-old Limestone resident Heidi Kurzejka. She's a 2011 graduate of Bishop McNamara Catholic High School and a junior at DePaul University in Chicago.
Her brief appearances on the new drama included dialogue and the possibility for future TV opportunities.
"This was a one-time thing, but she's meeting a lot of people in the business in her part-time job as a production assistant on 'Windy City Live,'" explained her father Dr. Ron Kurzejka, of the Presence St. Mary's Hospital Trauma Center staff.
Heidi was brought into the episode as a flight attendant on a layover in Chicago, reuniting with one of the series stars for a ladies' night on the town. Her only line was a playful comment to another series regular, begging "Please don't arrest us, officer."
She told her family the scenes required a three-day visit to the set, which took place nearly four months ago. She fit the work into her school schedule and her assignments as an intern at the local TV production. She also will be modeling wedding dresses in an upcoming Martha Stewart magazine.
"This probably all began when she was chosen for the American Girl Show back when she was 10," said her mother Annette. "But, I think the more important thing is that she's still focused on her studies and doing the right things."
