DeKALB – About 50 vendors will participate in the DeKalb Back Alley Market, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8 in downtown DeKalb in Palmer Court, from First to Third streets, and Second street from Lincoln Highway to Locust street.
Leslie Conklin, one of the event’s three coordinators, described Back Alley Market as “a great outdoor event with social distancing that supports local businesses.”
Curated vendors and artists will sell a variety of items, including antique, vintage, plants, garden, handcrafted and original creations and food and beverage. There also will be live music performances.
“We have almost 50 artisan vendors, with a variety of different wares: wellness, vintage, retro, antique, handmade, holistic, homeopathic, jewelry, spices, sauces, fabric clothing, textiles from crochet to spun yarn, candles and more,” Conklin said. “There are so many categories and different types of everything. There’s something for everyone.”
The Egyptian Theatre’s concession stand will be open and local artists will sell items inside the theater’s lobby. Bathrooms will be available for use inside the theater.
The event was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re hoping to host the event twice a year in the spring and fall,” Conklin said.
