DeKalb now has two electric car charging stations downtown

DeKALB - DeKalb residents with an electric car now have a second place to charge it downtown, according to an announcement by the City.

The unit is set up in the Frank Van Buer Plaza along North Second Street, according to a social media post from the City of DeKalb. The stations are meant to promote green energy use for residents and visitors, according to the post.

The installation of the charging station was made possible through a grant from ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to cover half of the cost of the equipment.

The new station joins the downtown’s first charging station in the Vaughn Parking Lot, north of Tom Sparks Auto.
