High school sports roundup for Thursday, Jan. 20

Offense was the name of the game for DeKalb, who led Metea Valley from start to finish of a 65-51 win in DeKalb on Thursday.

Kailey Porter led the way for the Barbs with 24 points.

SWIMMING

Neuqua Valley 113, DeKalb 63: At Naperville, Jacob Gramer won two separate events for the Barbs in a road loss.

Gramer was tops in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 21.87 seconds, and took first in the 100 butterfly by finishing in 53.68 seconds. Jared VanderSchee also had a win for DeKalb, taking the 100 freestyle in 48.17 seconds.

WRESTLING

Morris triangular: At Morris, Kaneland split a pair of matches on the road, taking down Ottawa, 60-18, and losing to Morris, 38-32.

Cameron Phillips, Alex Gochis, Caden Grabowski, Nate Harper and Nate Diaz all earned victories for the Knights in both matches.

Genoa-Kingston triangular: At Genoa, the Cogs had one win and one loss in matches with Dixon and Richmond-Burton.

Dixon defeated G-K, 67-3, and the Cogs beat R-B, 45-27. Shayden McNew, Patrick Young, Nate Dutton, Brady Brewick, Hawke Mitchell, Julian Torres, Mike Sauber and David Way had wins for G-K.
