Indian Creek tops Amboy in boys basketball; Blake Simonson scores 18

Blake Simonson scored 18 points to lead Indian Creek over Amboy, 45-39, on Thursday in Shabbona.

Grant Schlorff added 12 points for the Timberwolves (2-3), and Cole Oleson scored seven.

Genoa-Kingston 60, North Boone 46: At Poplar Grove, the Cogs earned their fifth straight win in their Big Northern Conference opener.

Alec Golembiewski led the way for G-K (5-1, 1-0 BNC) with 18 points, and Josh Oates added 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Newark 47, Hinckley-Big Rock 43: At Newark, Ashleigh Wackerlin scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Royals in their loss.

DeKalb 42, Metea Valley 35: At Aurora, the Barbs rallied behind Amina Gray to defeat Metea Valley.

Gray scored 20 points, and Kaley Porter chipped in with 11.

PREP WRESTLING

Rochelle 44, Kaneland 24: At Maple Park, Cameron Phillips, Christian Duffing, Diego Serriteno and Max Pietak recorded wins by fall for the Knights in the loss.

BOYS BOWLING

DeKalb 3,028, Kaneland 2,360: At DeKalb, Aaron Lewis led the Barbs with a 615 series, and Jacob Lindgren put up a high game of 227.
