Amina Gray scores 23 points to lead DeKalb past Rockford East

DeKalb was excellent at home Tuesday in a 65-31 girls basketball win over Rockford East, thanks in large part to a game-high 23 points from Amina Gray.

Kailey Porter also hit double-digit scoring for the Barbs (3-2) with 13 points.

Hinckley-Big Rock 46, Elgin 20: At Elgin, the Royals shot a strong 44% from the field through the first three quarters to build a substantial lead.

Ashleigh Wackerlin led the way with 20 points for H-BR (5-0), and Devin Werner had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Downers Grove South 43, Kaneland 27: At Downers Grove, Kaneland fell to 2-3 overall.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Elgin 48, Indian Creek 47: At Elgin, the Timberwolves suffered a heartbreaker on the road, falling to Elgin by one.

Cole Oleson led IC with 14 points, Grant Schlorff added 12 and Markus Magden pitched in with 10 points.

Kaneland 47, Woodstock North 41: At Woodstock, the Knights outdueled the Thunder in a Hoops for Healing Tournament win.

Johnny Spallasso led Kaneland with 15 points and Gevon Grant scored 10.

St. Edward 58, Genoa-Kingston 48: At Elgin, the Cogs suffered an Elgin Tournament loss.

Jake Oates led G-K with 17 points, and Alec Golembiewski chipped in with 11.

WRESTLING

Genoa-Kingston quadrangular: At Genoa, the Cogs had one win and a pair of losses at home.

G-K won 12 of its 16 actual bouts but had to fight uphill against a number of forfeits because it had only 11 wrestlers available. Brady Brewick, Aiden Vasak, Michael Sauber and Julian Torres all went 3-0.
