Led by a four-goal performance from Eagan Reams, Genoa-Kingston continued to roll on Saturday with a dominant 8-0 win over Harvest Christian at home in Genoa.
Junior Leon, Jacob Barton, Gerardo Morales and Diego Espinoza also scored one goal each in the rout, while Aaron Acosta earned the clean-sheet win at keeper as the Cogs improved to 10-1 overall.
DeKalb 8, Rochelle 2: At Rochelle, the Barbs had no trouble on the road against the Hubs, securing their fifth win of the season in impressive fashion.
Edgar Gonzalez scored twice to lead the way for DeKalb, while Ben Hammarberg, Landon Weishaar, Josiah Antimo, Seth Hess, Jacob Larsen and Hunter Leman added one goal apiece.
Morris 7, Indian Creek 1: At Shabbona, the Timberwolves dropped a nonconference matchup at home.
Luke Barton scored Indian Creek’s lone goal in the loss.
VOLLEYBALL
Byron Tournament: At Byron, the Cogs were characteristically dominant, picking up five victories on the way to a Byron Tournament championship title.
G-K defeated Stillman Valley (25-16, 25-10), Forreston (25-19, 25-10), Ottawa (25-8, 25-13), Pearl City (25-22, 25-20) and Guilford (25-22, 25-17) to earn the championship plaque and improve to 12-0 overall.
GIRLS TENNIS
Huntley Invite: At Huntley, Kaneland finished in the middle of the pack, missing second place by a razor thin margin. Huntley was the victor with 153 points, Rolling Meadows came second at 116 and the Knights finished third at 115.
Evie Taylor and Anelle Dominguez led Kaneland with second-place finishes at no. 1 and no. 2 singles, respectively.
FOOTBALL
Orangeville 56, Hiawatha 8: At Orangeville, after rolling to one-sided wins in each of the first two weeks of the season, Hiawatha found itself on the unfamiliar end of a blowout in week three.
The Hawks are 2-1 overall and in the Eight Man North Conference.
