Carson West starts Sycamore wrestling comeback: Daily Chronicle Wednesday Roundup

Sycamore triangular: At Sycamore, the Spartans were 45-31 winners against Sandwich and 73-6 winners against Oswego East on Wednesday.

Results from Oswego East were not available.

Against Sandwich, the Indians won the first four matches before the Spartans started a comeback. Cooper Bode got the first Sycamore win at 175 pounds by forfeit, and the first on-the-mat win didn’t come until Collin Hughes got a 49-second pin at 285.

It started a streak of four sub-70-second pins – Carson West at 106 (1:06), Sawyer Davis at 113 (1:04), Michael Olson at 120 (0:23) and Tyler Lockhart at 126 (0:13).

Thomas Lind and Jayden Dohogne also picked up wins for the Spartans.

Genoa-Kingston quad: At Genoa, the Cogs went 2-1, the lone defeat a 29-24 loss to Alden-Hebron.

The Cogs beat Somonauk 36-24 and Mooseheart 42-6.

Chris Rodas was 3-0 with two pins, while Daniel Mercado and EJ Kennedy were each 3-0 with a pin.

Boys basketball

Rochelle 86, Genoa-Kingston 81: At Rochelle, the Cogs got a game-high 35 points from Marcus Johnson in the loss.

Hayden Hodgson had 21 points as the Cogs drained 10 3-pointers.
