Zokal back on top of Masters Tournament

Defending champion Joe Zokal is back on top of the Princeton Men’s Masters Bowling Tournament at the half-way mark.

Zokal holds a 68.23 to 64.05 lead in Peterson Points over second-place Michael Camp. He trailed Day 1 leader Chris Eggers, 33.03 to 32.40 before making his move into the pole position Sunday.

Zokal has won nine of 10 games with rounds of 1,640 and 1,683 (3,323). Camp has knocked down 3,255 pins with rounds of 1,588 and 1,667, winning all 10 games.

Also in the top 5 are JT Dant (64.40), Drew Carpenter (64.28) and Randy Dalrymple (64.06). Eggers (63.04) slipped into seventh behind Randy Hanson (64.06).

Chris Layton had the highlight game of the tournament, rolling his ninth career 300 on Saturday. He stands tied for 12th (56.24).

A special presentation was given to the Randy Allen family with a new “Cubs” chair designated for Fred and Joyce Allen, who recently passed away. It sits next to the chair reserved for the late Mary Lou Layton, another avid bowling.

The tournament resumes at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pin Splitter Lanes with the finals set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
