State senator collects items for Freedom House in Princeton

Senator’s holiday food drive continues until Dec. 13

The Freedom House headquarters are located in Princeton at 440 Elm Place.

State Sen. Win Stoller [R-Germantown Hills] has launched a holiday food drive in partnership with the Center of Prevention of Abuse in Peoria and Freedom House in Princeton.

“Both of these wonderful organizations provide an invaluable service to the victims of domestic abuse in our communities,” Stoller said in a press release. “Unfortunately, these groups find that they are in short supply of necessary food items during the holidays, so we decided to host this drive to make sure they have everything they need for the upcoming holiday season.”

Stoller’s office coordinated with the Center of Prevention of Abuse in Peoria and Freedom House in Princeton to compile a list of items that each group needed the most, which included the following: boxes or bags of cereal, granola or other snack bars, Ramen noodles, individual macaroni and cheese cups, Chef Boyardee canned pastas, other snack items, canned or jarred fruits and vegetables, peanut butter and other nut butters, gift cards to area grocery stores in Peoria for the Center of Prevention of Abuse to purchase dairy, meats, and fresh vegetables.

“If you are able to spare any of the requested items, both of these organizations and the people they serve would greatly appreciate it,” Stoller said.

All items can be dropped off at Stoller’s Peoria office at 5415 N. University St., Suite 105. His office will be collecting item until Monday, Dec. 13, in order to ensure they can distribute them before the holidays arrive.
