Kewanee boys basketball honored for milestone victory

Boilermakers have won more than 1,500 games

KEWANEE - Kewanee High School has joined the exclusive company in the Illinois High School boys basketball ranks.

The Boilermakers were recognized by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association for surpassing the 1,500-victory plateau by prior to Friday’s game with Bureau Valley.

With their win over Bureau Valley, the Boilermakers improved their all-time record to 1,522 wins, 1,194 losses and one tie.

Since the 1911-12 season, the Boilermakers have captured 47 district or regional titles, and have made nine state tournament appearances with the 1932 team earning a fourth-place finish. .

The Boilermakers stand 17-9 this year and are in the driver’s seat for the Three Rivers East Division Conference championship with a 9-1 record.
