Diamond man jailed in Will County on child porn charge

A Diamond man was arrested on a charge of a child pornography following a Braidwood police investigation that lasted four months.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, Manuel Ramos, 68, of the first block of Arlington Drive was booked into the Will County jail on a charge of child pornography.

A criminal complaint filed against Ramos alleged that he possessed on his cellphone a digital image of a nude female minor involved in a sexual act with an adult male. The offense occurred on July 28, the criminal complaint said.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Braidwood police said, “After receiving information, the Braidwood Police Department conducted a 4 month investigation that (led) to an arrest warrant being issued for Manuel Ramos.”

Ramos was residing in Braidwood at the time, police said.

Judge Fred Harvey signed the warrant for Ramos’ arrest. The warrant carried a $100,000 bond. Ramos will need to post $10,000 for his release from jail.

Ramos was taken into custody Tuesday by Braidwood police officers and Grundy County sheriff deputies, police said.

The child pornography charge is punishable by up to five years in prison.
