Ranch Frostie named Business of the Year by New Lenox Chamber of Commerce

Ranch Frostie was named Business of the Year by the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce at Monday night’s Village Board meeting.

The award is the third and final of the chamber’s yearly awards. Just as Citizen of the Year, Nancy Dye, and Partner of the Year, Lincoln-Way Foundation, Ranch Frostie owners John Sestak and Jackie Potocki were surprised with the recognition.

The two took over Ranch Frostie in 2018 and have kept the tradition of keeping Ranch Frostie a community staple. Ranch Frostie is located at 1259 N. Cedar Road in New Lenox.

The shop originally opened in 1970.

Chamber CEO Emily Johnson said the Business of the Year is always one that makes a difference and is active in the community.

“They go above and beyond and in 2020, they really stepped up to make sure they were taking care of not just their customers in our community, but our first responders, our health care workers and everyone,” Johnson said. “[They make sure] that children have a place to find and enjoy and families have a place to go.”

Early Monday, Mayor Tim Baldermann said the owners were invited to the board meeting to discuss work that was going to be done in the area near the shop.

Johnson presented the award at the start of the board meeting.

“You guys have done such an amazing job of building on the [Ranch Frostie tradition] and making it your own and making it so special,” Johnson said to Sestak and Potocki.
