Minooka man wounded in shooting on I-55 at Black Road

Victim hospitalized, police said

A man was traveling on Interstate 55 at Black Road when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and an occupant fired shots at him, according to Illinois State Police.

The victim of the shooting, a 37-year-old man from Minooka, was hospitalized after the incident, which remains under investigation.

State troopers responded to the shooting about 2:37 a.m. Sunday, according to a state police news release. The troopers went to milepost 254 on I-55 at Black Road after receiving a report of the incident.

The troopers met with the victim in the case, who told them that an “unknown vehicle” pulled alongside his vehicle at the location and began shooting, police said.

The victim was driving a blue 2007 Toyota, which sustained multiple gun shots during the incident, police said. Afterward, the man was taken to a hospital with injuries.

"This is an open and ongoing investigation," the Illinois State Police said on Monday. "No additional information is available at this time."
