Children who are unable to speak with Santa Claus in person this year will have a unique opportunity at the city of La Salle’s Celebration of Lights.
Santa Claus will make an appearance at the free, drive-thru lights display from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, and Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Families can drive by and wave to Santa from their vehicle at the shelter near the playground at the city’s Rotary Park, which is currently hosting the Celebration of Lights displays. Families and children are encouraged not to stop or exit their vehicle during the celebration and instead wave as they drive-by him at the shelter.
Children will have an opportunity to address Santa by dropping their Christmas letters to him in the donations drop box at the end of the Celebration of Lights display. Children that include their name and address will receive a response letter from Santa after he is able to collect all of the letters.
The Celebration of Lights is in its eighth year and has a new path created between the baseball diamond and the playground. While entrace is free, donations are accepted.
