Local Methodist churches to host 'Christmas Story' caravan Dec. 6

Guests can drive to three churches to hear holiday music, stories

Three local churches are celebrating the holidays with an outdoor drive-thru musical and story-telling experience.

According to a news release from the United Methodist Church of Geneva, the Christmas Story Caravan is from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The Geneva church is holding the event with Batavia United Methodist Church and Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles.

At each of the three churches, guests will hear holiday music as part of the Christmas story's narrative, as well as an opportunity to give to others. Guests can start the caravan at any of the three churches.

Guests will hear the story of the angel appearing to Mary at the Batavia United Methodist Church, and can donate mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and leggings to be donated to local charities.

The United Methodist Church of Geneva will host a live nativity as guests learn about Jesus' birth. The church will also be collecting donations for Heifer International, an organization that works to end hunger in 21 countries.

Baker Memorial United Methodist Church will host the story of the shepherds' visit and see luminaries light up the lawn. Guests can write a prayer to hang on the prayer tree and take home a luminaria kit. Funds will be collected for missionary Clara Biswas, who works with families in Cambodia.
