Bears receiver Allen Robinson remains in concussion protocol this week, coach Matt Nagy said Wednesday.
Robinson left Monday night's loss against the Los Angeles Rams late in the fourth quarter after referees sent him off the field following a hit to the helmet. It's a short turnaround for Robinson and the Bears, which doesn't bode well if Robinson is still dealing with the effects of a concussion.
Four player missed practice Wednesday with injuries: Robinson (concussion), OLB Khalil Mack (ankle), C Cody Whitehair (calf) and WR/RB Cordarrelle Patterson (quad).
Mack appeared to injure his ankle Monday night on the third-quarter Rams run where the referees failed to blow the whistle when Rams running back Malcolm Brown's forward progress appeared to stop. The Rams pushed forward for more yardage and Mack ended the play on the ground reaching for his left ankle. Mack remained in the game though.
Nagy did not provide an update on center Cody Whitehair, who suffered a calf injury during Monday’s game. Nagy said he doesn’t think Whitehair’s injury is a long-term injury.
Even so, Whitehair’s status for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints is uncertain. Undrafted rookie Sam Mustipher entered the game at center in the second half Monday after Whitehair exited.
“I thought he did a good job,” Nagy said Wednesday of Mustipher. “The one thing with Sam is that he’s extremely bright, he really sees the field well.”
DB Eddie Jackson (knee), TE Cole Kmet (back) and DB Sherrick McManis (hamstring) were all limited in practice Wednesday. WR Ted Ginn Jr. and TE Jimmy Graham were given the day off to rest.
