Four male suspects stole a cash register from the cosmetics department of the Walgreens at 466 Nelson Road early Wednesday morning, New Lenox police said.
One of thieves – Dante McClain, 29, of the 4300 block of South Vernon Avenue in Chicago – was charged with burglary and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle in connection with the 2 a.m. robbery, police said.
The vehicle was stolen from Chicago, police said.
Two 15-year-olds also were arrested and are facing similar charges, but the fourth male suspect has yet to be apprehended, police said.
One of the juveniles was the driver of the stolen vehicle and will face a charge of operating a stolen motor vehicle, said New Lenox police Deputy Chief Louis Alessandrini.
According to a police report, officers arrived after the thieves left the store, but a description of them, their vehicle and the direction they were headed was provided.
Alessandrini said the car was stopped by a train and with the help of the Joliet Police Department and the Will County Sheriff’s Office, three males were taken into custody.
The cash register later was found at Nelson Road and Haven Avenue and $100 was estimated to be missing, police said.
