UPDATED: Crystal Lake man charged in March DUI crash where police say he claimed he wasn't driver

A 28-year-old Crystal Lake man is due in court Tuesday, months after police say he drunkenly drove his car at 103 mph, crashed, and injured a passenger and then claimed he wasn't the driver.

Christopher K. Huber is charged with aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated reckless driving in connection with a March 1 single-vehicle rollover crash in Crystal Lake. The crash ejected and injured another man, Brandon Levy, who was a passenger in Huber's car at the time, court records show.

When police arrived at the scene of the crash, Huber denied being the driver, Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Thomas Kotlowski said Friday.

For the next several months, police awaited DNA test results for samples taken from the driver-side airbag. The test ultimately confirmed that it was Huber behind the wheel when the crash occurred, Kotlowski said

Huber's blood-alcohol content was above the legal 0.08 limit when he crashed his 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander on Randall Road, court records show. His license had already been revoked based on a previous case when the crash happened.

Huber has been arrested twice before in connection with driving under the influence, records show.

Huber was arrested Thursday morning and remained at the McHenry County Jail on a $250,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $25,000 bail to be released. His attorney, Daniel Hofmann, filed a motion Thursday seeking to reduce Huber's bond.
