Peru council looking into building a band shell in Centennial Park

Concert goers said they would like a metal band shell

Following feedback from attendees of the various concerts hosted at Centennial Park this summer, the city of Peru will look into bringing in a band/concert shell at the park.

Concert-goers were given the option of two different structures with the public deciding on a metal band shell over a wooden band shell. Mayor Scott Harl was hopeful this project also could be completed without funding from the city’s coffers.

Several projects, including the roundabout fountain and statues around the city were made possible through donations.

“If I do enough knocking on doors and enough asking, we’ll see what happens with this project,” Harl said. “We are working on that, and we’ll see where that goes.”

Harl chose not to get into more detail, but he did hint at other various big projects that could be put into action in the near future.
