Bond set at $15K for Florida man charged with 2015 sexual assault at party in Hinckley

SYCAMORE – A Florida man, formerly of Hinckley, charged with sexually assaulting a girl at a Christmas party in 2015, was extradited Thursday to DeKalb County, where he appeared in front of a judge for a bond hearing.

Kevin B. Diaz, 23, of the first block of Fifth Avenue in Shalimar, Florida, is charged with sexual assault and appeared before DeKalb County Circuit Court Judge Robbin Stuckert on Thursday for his bond hearing.

If convicted, Diaz could face up to 15 years in prison and fines up to $25,000. Stuckert ruled Thursday that Diaz’s bond be set at $15,000. He’d have to post 10% of that to be released and would be placed on electronic home monitoring if so.

Diaz was arrested by Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies in Florida last month.

Prosecutors allege that Diaz sexually assaulted a person on Dec. 22, 2015, at a home in Hinckley during a holiday party. Diaz was living in Aurora at the time, and he and the victim were both at the party but did not attend together, according to the release.
