Florida man faces sexual assault charges from 2015 Hinckley party

SYCAMORE - A Florida man is facing criminal sexual assault charges after DeKalb County police investigators say he sexually assaulted someone at a holiday party in Hinckley back in 2015.

Kevin B. Diaz, 23, of the first block of Fifth Avenue in Shalimar, Florida, is charged with sexual assault and is awaiting extradition to Illinois Wednesday after Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies in Florida took him into custody, according to a news release from DeKalb County State's Attorney Rick Amato.

Prosecutors allege Diaz sexually assaulted a person on Dec. 22, 2015 at a home in Hinckley during a holiday party. Diaz was living in Aurora at the time, and he and the victim were both at the party but did not attend together, the release states.

Following an investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, DeKalb County prosecutors authorized the charges last Friday, July 24.

Diaz will appear before a DeKalb County Judge for a bond hearing when he is extradited, and the case remains under investigation, the release states.

Anyone with information should call the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at (815) 895-7260.
