Garzanelli's Supper Club in Oglesby opens Wednesday

Interior of the restaurant has been updated

The wait is over for food at Garzanelli's Supper Club in Oglesby.

Wednesday is the opening date, said David Hillyer of Tonica, who owns the restaurant along with his father, Jeremy.

“People can expect the same great food that the Garzanelli and Carretto families provided all those years. As far as the scenery, they can expect a little bit of sophisticated nostalgia on what we’ve done inside,” Hillyer said.

He estimates the restaurant has been receiving 30 to 40 phone calls every night asking when they are opening.

The property was purchased in February. The previous owners had closed the restaurant in late October 2016.

He said he’s most looking forward to bringing back something everyone has missed for a long time.

They’ve redid the bar top, painted, put more seating inside, new tablecloths, put up murals on the walls of Oglesby sites and surrounding area pictures.

The restaurant hosted a soft opening on Friday and Saturday, which Hillyer said went great — people loved the food, service and the updated inside.

He said COVID-19 has allowed them to do more updating than what they originally planned on. He said they will follow the governor and mayor’s guidelines when it comes to COVID-19.

They'll be open 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

They are located at 750 N. Columbia Ave., Oglesby, and can be reached at 815-883-8633.

At this time, they are not going to be doing carryouts.

“With the overwhelming support we’ve got from the community, we think we’re going to be so busy, we want to please the people inside first,” he said.

They will not be taking reservations at this time for the same reason, he said, and he hopes the community understands.
