Lansing man arrested in Will County on sex abuse, solicitation to meet a child charges

A Lansing man was arrested on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and solicitation to meet a child following an investigation by the Park Forest police, according to court records.

Shortly after 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Joshua McGhee, 21, of the 19100 block of Roy Street, was taken to the Will County jail on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and solicitation to meet a child, according to the county jail log.

McGhee is being held at the county jail on a $75,000 bond as of Thursday. He will need to post $7,500 for his release from the jail.

McGhee was investigated by the Park Forest Police Department and he was arrested on a warrant that a judge signed June 30, court records show.

The criminal charges against McGhee concern incidents that occurred on Nov. 1, 2019, court records show.

After McGhee’s arrest, he was appointed Will County Assistant Public Defender Todd Lenzie.

McGhee's case was set for a grand jury hearing on Wednesday. The next day, the grand jury returned a bill of indictment on the same charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and solicitation to meet a child, court records show.

A judge received the indictment Thursday and ordered McGhee’s bond to remain at $75,000.

The charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a class 2 felony that is punishable by up to seven years in prison and a fine of $25,000. The charge of solicitation to meet a child is a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,500.

McGhee’s arraignment has been scheduled for Aug. 3.
