New location for jail visitor entrance, inmate release

WAUKEGAN – With the completion of the latest phase of renovations at the Lake County Jail, the new permanent public entrance is now located on the south side of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan.

The previous entrance at 20 S. County St., Waukegan, is no longer in service.

Inmates being released from custody will be released at the new entrance. Any professional visitors (attorneys, etc.) coming to the Lake County Jail (when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted) and those coming to post bond should use the new entrance.

Visitors who come to the jail to use video visitation will continue using the entrance at 15 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
