The U.S. News & World Report included both high schools in Valley View School District 365U as among the best in the nation.
Both Bolingbrook High School and Romeoville High School secured spots among the top 20% of all high schools in Illinois, according to a district news release.
Romeoville High School ranked 148th in the state and Bolingbrook High School came in at 166th.
The rankings are based on student performance on state assessments and how well the schools prepare students for college.
Based on those metrics, both Valley View high schools also ranked in the top 10 of high schools in Will County. Schools in the Lincoln-Way, Plainfield and Lockport school districts also made the list, according to the release.
The publication uses multiple factors to compile its rankings including college readiness, math and reading proficiency scores on state exams, whether those scores exceed expectations given the school's demographics, graduation rates, and the number of students who take and pass college-level exams in different subject areas.
U.S. News ranked 17,790 public high schools out of a review of more than 24,000 in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, the district said.
