2 men stole TV from new Joliet Popeyes restaurant: records

One of two men charged with stealing a television from the new Joliet Popeyes restaurant has been arrested.

Tony Jackson, 39, of the 600 block of East Cass Street in Joliet was arrested and jailed on April 20 on charges of theft and burglary in connection with the incident.

A criminal complaint alleged Jackson and Anthony Lukas, 29, of the 100 block of Pueblo Court in Frankfort entered the Popeyes restaurant at 441 E. Cass St. with the intent to commit theft.

Both men allegedly stole a television, the complaint said.

A warrant was issued for Lukas’ arrest on May 1. The warrant carries a $2,500 bond, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office. He remains at large.

On Nov. 20, Jackson pleaded guilty to theft and he was sentenced to 250 days, credited with 125 days already served, and two years of probation, court records show.

On Jan. 22, 2018, Jackson pleaded guilty to committing theft, court records show. Prosecutors dropped another count of theft, as well as charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and criminal damage to property.

He was sentenced to two years in prison and credited with already serving 103 days.

Lukas also pleaded guilty to theft on Feb. 16, 2016. He sentenced to one year in jail and credited with 279 days already served.

On April 8, Darius Blackledge, 38, was arrested at the Cass Street Popeyes after he argued with restaurant employees and fought with the officers who responded, Joliet police said.

Blackledge was charged with aggravated battery, resisting arrest and criminal trespass.
