La Grange to hold virtual Pet Parade

LA GRANGE - The La Grange Pet Parade Planning Committee has decided to change the 2020 parade to a virtual online event.

The virtual event will consist of a pre-recorded video montage being posted on the original date and time of this year’s parade, 9:30 a.m. May 30.

The parade link will be posted on Pet Parade Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, LTTV channel 99 on Comcast and AT&T U-Verse and will be Streaming on: www.youtube.com/lttvonline.

The parade will feature favorite clips from past parades, new clips and local residents sending in their short videos. The committee is looking for local residents to submit 10-second video clips and instructions can be found at www.lagrangepetparade.org.

“Since we are unsure of when social distancing will end, we believe this is the best way to have a parade this year,” said Susan Breen, chairperson of the parade’ds planning committee. “We hope this virtual event will bring joy to the local community.”

The La Grange Pet Parade started in 1947 by a group of local business owners, headed by Ed Breen of Breen’s Cleaners, intending to bring the community together around the idea of a pet and child costume contest parading down the main street of the Village of La Grange. The parade is

celebrating 74 years in 2020 and will have a big 75 year celebration in 2021.
