First Folio Theatre in Oak Brook cancels play; shares message with patrons

First Folio Theatre in Oak Brook announced that its production of "Louisa May Alcott's Little Women" has been cancelled.

Ticket buyers can choose to donate the cost of their tickets back to First Folio, which may be tax deductible.

"This is the option which would help First Folio the most and help make it possible to weather this financial storm," read a statement from David Rice, Kate Danziger and Melanie Keller.

Alternatively, First Folio could credit one's account for the ticket price to apply to a future purchase. Ticket buyers may contact First Folio by email at firstfolio@firstfolio.org.

"As a nonprofit arts institution, the impact of lost or even delayed performances is large, but the understanding and support of our patrons can go a long way to helping us weather these artistic and fiscal storms," the theater team stated. "This is why we are asking audience members and subscribers with tickets to our current production to consider converting their purchase to a donation or crediting the value of their tickets towards future productions.

"Another way to help support us during this time would be to purchase your subscriptions to our 2020-2021 season right away. And, of course, making donations to First Folio to help us through these difficult times would always be appreciated …

"These are unprecedented times, but together we will get through them. And we look forward to sharing many more wonderful productions in the future."

More information on subscribing and donating is available at FirstFolio.org.
