Man dies after car collision on I-55 in Bolingbrook

A man died due to injuries suffered in a car accident on Interstate 55 in Bolingbrook on Tuesday. Jaime B. Herrera, 57, of Franklin Park was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. at the AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook on Tuesday, according to a news release from the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Herrera was the driver of a vehicle that collided with another vehicle on northbound I-55 at mile marker 269 in Bolingbrook, according to the release. The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident. Traffic was shut down and rerouted Tuesday after the crash, according to a statement released by the state police.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday.

The preliminary autopsy report is pending further studies. The final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date.
