Students and teachers at Plank Junior High School in Oswego showed their passion for animals and those in need by holding a supply drive and fundraiser to support local animal shelters.
The "Passionate 4 Paws" drive and fundraiser ran from Feb. 3 through Feb. 14, headed by teachers Brandi Jensen, Denise Parlier, Jennifer Lazaroski, Jessica Baker, Leigh Hatc, and Chrisine McCree.
During the fundraiser, students brought in donations of materials to support local shelters including: dog and cat food, leashes, collars, toys, old blankets and towels and cleaning supplies.
The drive was open to all grade levels. Students were rewarded for bringing in donations with having a picture of their own pet displayed during the school's daily announcements.
"Projects like this are a great way to build character and compassion in students and get them connected and working together with the community," Parlier said.
Donations will be delivered to A Journey Home in Oswego, Rescued Rascals in Oswego, and Paws and Purrs Humane Society in Montgomery.
