A Woodstock woman accused of pulling a child out of a closet by his wrist and then striking him with an open hand faces several felony charges.
Rebecca L. Wise, 34, is accused of intentionally harming a child on Jan. 10, according to a criminal complaint filed with the McHenry County Circuit Clerk's Office. She is charged with aggravated battery to a child younger than 13 years old and domestic battery. Wise "grabbed the child by the wrist and pulled him from a closet, causing him to strike his head on a wall," according to the complaint.
She then struck the child with an open hand, records show.
It was not immediately clear why the child was in the closet or what happened leading up to the allegations. Woodstock police declined to provide further details, citing an ongoing investigation.
Wise, of the 200 block of Dean Street, was arrested on a $15,00 warrant Jan. 17 and posted bond that same day.
Neither Wise's attorney nor the prosecuting attorney could immediately be reached for comment.
A judge on Monday continued Wise's case to Feb. 18.
