Vince Neil, Bret Michaels playing Taste of Joliet

Vince Neil and Bret Michaels will headline rock night at Taste of Joliet this summer.

Neil and Michaels will perform June 26, opening night for Taste of Joliet, the Joliet Park District announced Wednesday,

Neil is the lead singer for Motley Crue, a heavy metal band that has sold 100 million albums and has had 22 Top 40 songs since forming in 1981.

Michaels, lead singer for the glam band Poison that also formed in the 1980s, performed once before at Joliet Memorial Stadium in 2010 for a fall concert.

Poison has sold 45 million albums and has had six Top 10 songs.

They will appear in Joliet weeks before both of their bands start a national tour that includes a stop at Wrigley Field in August.

“We kind of got lucky,” said park district Executive Director Brad Staab, who expects the Taste performance to get more attention because of the tour. “They’re doing a lot of promotion for the tour.”

The Michaels performance in Joliet in 2010 sold out, Staab said.

Tickets went on sale Wednesday on the event website, tasteofjoliet.com. Front section reserved tickets are $56, and general admission is $15.

Michaels will perform at 7:30 p.m. Neil will take the stage at 9:15 p.m.
