Channahon police officers promoted

Promotions fill vacancies left from dual retirements

The Channahon Village Board had its first meeting of the new year on Monday.

At that meeting, Channahon police officers John Blough and Dustin Carlson were promoted to patrol sergeants on the recommendation of the Channahon Fire and Police Commission. Chairman Daniel Hoppe announced the recommendation to the board, which approved the promotions.

The positions replace those vacated by recently retired Sergeants James Pozen and Steve Weiss.

In other action at Monday’s regular meeting, Village Administrator Tom Durkin reminded residents the village’s garbage collection contract with Waste Management will expire April 30.

Staff members currently are exploring options for a new contract, which Durkin said is expected to be in effect by May 1.
