DeKalb's Pier 1 Imports to close in February

DeKALB – Pier 1 Imports in DeKalb will shut its doors at the end of February 2020, a store employee said Wednesday.

“We don’t really know why [we’re closing],” Yesenia Hernandez said. “It’s a corporate decision.”

Signs on the windows and doors of the store in the strip mall at 2371 Sycamore Road, next to the Bath & Body Works that’s been undergoing a remodel for months, show it’s now been dubbed a clearance center.

The Pier One, a Texas-based furniture and home goods retailer, has been struggling for some time, reports show.

The company confirmed a $100.6 million loss in its fiscal second quarter, according to a Sept. 25 Associated Press report. Revenue for that period came in at $304 million, the report showed.

All merchandise is 25% off, signs show, and a handful of shoppers were in the store taking advantage of the low prices.
